Housed in a historic Southwestern hacienda, the Millicent Museum offers an experience of many cultures of the Southwest through various art expressions, whether through temporary jewelry to prehistoric pottery. The exhibits cover the heritage of the Hispanic, Native American and Anglo arts of the Southwest.
A special highlight of the museum is the magnificent turquoise jewelry collected and owned by fashionista Millicent Rogers for whom the museum is named. Her collection includes the famous "Tab Necklace" that she purchased for $5000 in the 1940s.
Also not to be missed is the permanent exhibition of materials donated by the family of Maria Martinez, the famed San Ildefonso Pueblo potter. Maria was the foremost Native American potter of the 20th century. This collection is a must see for those interested in the history of pueblo pottery making.
