In 1998, Norma Garret, Mythology teacher at the Aztec High School, created a project for her students called "Aztec Legends and Lore." The students worked diligently to collect and publish this book which contains a collection of stories and legends of the Aztec area. Many of the students involved are descendents of Aztec pioneer families.
