National Night Out is a unique crime and prevention sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW).
Nationally the event is held the first Tuesday each August.
Participating in National Night Out is an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program that promotes neighborhood and local business spirit and police-community partnerships in an effort to maintain a safe community. It is a great way to meet your neighbors and local businesses and enjoy some good food, games, entertainment and become familiar with members of our local police department.
Aztec has participated annually since 2002!
Our event is held each year on the
Third Tuesday of July at Minium Park from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Aztec's National Night Out event involves citizens, our local law enforcement, neighborhood crime watch groups and local businesses along with our local officials from the City of Aztec. Over 100 business vendors and 3,000 to 4,000 citizens participate each year. We have various activities, contests and games, and our famous donut eating contest with over 100 contestants. The event is designed to:
1. Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
2. Generate support for and participation, in local anti-crime programs;
3. Strengthen neighborhood and local business spirit; and
4. Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and will be fighting back.
Come and join us by visiting our beautiful Minium Park and share a night of free entertainment, music, food, family & fun and help us send a STRONG message to criminals that neighborhoods and local businesses in the City of Aztec will not tolerate crime.
