The 4.25 miles (6.84 km) of San Juan River just below Navajo Dam/Lake is among the most hallowed trout fishing waters in North America and is ranked a USA Top-10 Fly Fishing Destination. It also provides several nice hiking paths along the river and into Simon Canyon.
Vehicle parking is available at several of the day use areas along NM Hwy 511 (road to dam) or County Road 4280 on the north side of the river. Camping is available at the Cottonwood Campground off of County Road 4280 or at Navajo State Park north of the marina. Read the posted signage, and please pack out what you pack in.
