is for Utilitarian Objects. |
The Chacoan culture thrived in the San Juan Basin for hundreds of years. Ancestral Puebloan society was very sophisticated, and far beyond basic survival. They had time to create complex religious practices and social structures, beautiful art, and monumental structures. But everyday life required everyday items. The Ancestral Pueblo people's knowledge of the natural world was intimate and vast, and they were able to craft utilitarian objects to meet their needs from local materials. What they couldn't produce locally, they traded for.
What sort of everyday, useful items have you made?
